The Meridian Condominium is another example of ECI's commitment to tackling challenging restorations of urban buildings. The architect, Zahn Design Associates of Washington, DC designed a 16-unit condominium from the shell of a badly decayed building in the 14th Street Corridor.
Two buildings were created with a tranquil light-filled courtyard and reflecting pond between them. The homes include all the finest modern amenities and high-grade finishes and equipment, and sleek interior detailing. Those on the highest levels are loft-style, with vistas of downtown Washington.
The entire existing building was demolished and portions of the facade left in tact. One of the greatest difficulties of this project was retaining and working around the braced facade, and then integrating the new construction seamlessly into it. The design team and ECI emerged from this struggle victorious, especially given the developer's limited budget.
