ECI's Chairman, John Eichberg, founded ECI in 1974 after learning the construction trade from building a chain of family-owned retail shoe stores in Washington. So you might say that ECI got its start in retail, and every retain store we built remind us of our roots.
We recently completed several retail stores as part of the renaissance of the 14th Street Corridor. The latest is Garden District, the second outlet of upscale neighborhood garden stores being developed by local entrepreneur and landscape designer Joe Carmack. We collaborated again with Zahn Design Architects, creating this environment combining sleek and natural design elements.
It features scored, stained concrete floors, maple millwork throughout, concrete countertops, and a suspended serpentine maple trellis inviting customers along a pathway through the fragrant merchandise.
