ECI is proud to have completed the Julia Bindeman Suburban Center in Potomac, MD for a repeat client, the Washington Hebrew Congregation. This $8,200,000, 18-month project included new construction of a classroom wing, renovation of the existing school, and the addition to and renovation of the existing multi-purpose room. The architect, Bowie Gridley Architects, designed a dramatic new expanded multipurpose space, which includes a new commercial banquet kitchen, a dramatic sanctuary space, a stage for school performances, and a courtyard.

The client's program also called for 10 additional classrooms, public gathering spaces, new administrative offices, new public restroom facilities, coatrooms, and a new Judaica shop for display and sale of religious artifacts. Outside a new amphitheater was created, new stormwater management structures were added, the parking lot was expanded, and playgrounds and an athletic field were added.

The project completed while school was in session, with no missed or impacted school days. The interior renovations to the existing school, constituting approximately $3,000,000 of the contract value, were completed during one summer vacation, just over 90 days.
