The Blaine Mansion is perhaps the most interesting and multi-dimensional project we’ve ever built. The very definition of mixed-use, all at once this project includes two restaurants, multifamily residential condominiums, law firm and other commercial office space. At the direction of local developer Sam Dunn and architect Ben Van Dusen of Van Dusen Architects, ECI painstakingly restored and renovated this 19 th century mansion on DuPont Circle and added a modern metal-and-glass-skinned building adjacent. We underpinned the mansion and installed structured parking below. The roof of the addition, a poured-in-place concrete structure, houses the cooling tower that supplies HVAC through a 4-pipe system to both mansion and addition, as well as the swimming pool.
